Candidiasis Symptoms & Candidiasis Treatment

Candidiasis an infection also called moniliasis or thrush caused by a yeast like fungus candidia albicans . This is usually foundin the intestibe, the vagina, the mouth and on areas of sore skin. A number of factors may cause chemical changes in the bosy that destroy the body's immunity to Candidiasis and encourage the fungus to grow. Candida infection is more common following antibiotic use, which can kill off the bacteria that normally live on mucus membranes, and otherwise inhibit overgrowth by candida. The vagina is the most common site of the candidiasis infection in women, symptoms include itching, inflammation and a thick, milky white discharge.

In general, Candidiasis affects the warm, moist parts of the bosy, such as the folds of teh skin - the groin and anus and is often present together with napkin rash in babies. Most cases of candidiasis result from infection with Candida albicans or C. tropicalis, although eight other potentially disease-causing strains exist among the more than 150 species of Candida.

Candidiasis may invade the bloodstream of people with debiliating diseases, such as leukamia and those on immunosuppressive drugs. Because Candida is part of the normal group of microorganisms that co-exist with all people, it is impossible to avoid contact with it. Babies sometimes contact Candidiasis of mouth while passing along the vagina during birth.
